Join the Mighty Food Waste Mission

Free, spring-themed, curriculum-linked activities for 5- to 11-year-olds, inspiring the next generation of recyclers to waste less and recycle more!

Spring is a season of change - making it the perfect time to rethink food waste. Wales is already the world’s 2nd best recycling nation, but we’re aiming for No.1 and keeping food waste out of the rubbish is one of the biggest steps we can take to get there! Did you know that a quarter of the average rubbish bin in Wales is still filled with food waste, most of which could have been eaten?

About the Mighty Food Waste Mission

Created with teachers, this fun and engaging activity pack helps pupils explore how reducing food waste and recycling what’s left can protect our planet and fight climate change - all while connecting to real-world, springtime celebrations such as Pancake Day, Eid, Mother’s Day and Easter.

The classroom activities are aligned with the Curriculum for Wales, supporting key learning objectives and your pupils' work can be used as part of your school's Eco-Schools evidence.

How to deliver it in the classroom

Step 1 – Download the presentation and select the activities that best meet the needs of your pupils, making any adaptions needed.

Step 2 – Deliver your chosen activities.

Step 3 – Encourage your pupils to become active citizens by taking their work home to share with their parents or carers.
